making rainbows

Blurry pictures of my trying-not-to-look-hipster-and-failing outfit that I wore the other day. it consists of ROMWE galaxy leggings, Tabio legwarmers, the usual creepers, Topshop cardigan, and ever-present Patrick Wolf tshirt. It was too cold for these leggings, they're about as thick as 40 denier tights. Brr. Anyway, that was my first attempt at an outfit post in F O R E V E R. 

In other news, these beauties are my brand new super cheap h&m shoes. They are very strange (brogue-moccasin-platform-rockinghorseshoe hybrid) and I fell immediately in love with them when I decided they were very cheap and I don't own a pair of silly shoes.

Today in science Sophie and I made rainbows with plastic prisms and smashed up spinach leaves. It was fun.

 oh what a year its been.

I have been to many exotic and wonderful places and I feel extremely lucky about how much I have travelled this year.

I went to Uganda and I guess it changed my life.

Lana Del Rey has made this year for me, her look, her music, her attitude. She is just amazing. 

This blog has prompted me to draw, paint, collage a lot more and create the kind of art I want to create.

I hope this blog has brought me and Sinead together as friends, but who knows? ( rhetorical question )

Another awful attempt at appreciation

I would have to say that I am one of Kate Nash's better fans. I mean her first album was called 'Pumpkin soup' and theres nothing better than an album named after a delicious gourd-based soup. 

Theres also nothing better than songs that have the lyrics-

I am honestly sorry about my art skills, but I wanted a way to present my fantasy Autumn outfits in a nice way and drawing then seemed the best way. see the little numbers, they correspond with a little bit of information about the outfits I dream of

1. Like every normal person I love the witchy vibe and midi skirts, and lace and clunky boots and also a bat handbag which I do actually own.
2.       This outfit is inspired by this beautiful piece of advertising and also Downton Abbey which is rife with     gorgeous 1920's fabulousness
3. The last outfit is basically very different to what I usually wear, and well shorts with hearts on the pockets........

hello, autumn

Hello possums

I haven't done a post that contains outfits in FOREVER, mainly because there is not an awful lot I can do with my school uniform and I just slob out in pyjamas when I get home from school. So here are some pictures from my Autumn so far.

But I thought, Autumn's here so I'll mark the beginning of the season with some clothes ~

This is my beauuuutiful Louche red Winter coat. I think it's cold enough to wear it now, so out it came; it's such a yummy shade of red and so so warm. ('scuse the mess behind me in the picture)

Fluffy faux fur collar and little black ribbon at the top.

I like the little details on this coat; like the tiny buttons on the back.

Don't know if you can make out the fact I'm with a cat here ^

I plan to watch Sleepy Hollow again this Autumn. I really love that witchy film, Johnny is such a baby in it! So young and cute! Also I really want to check out The Virgin Suicides. So many people are in love with that film, it intrigues me. Also I read a bit of the book at my friend Emily's house and it seemed interesting -beautifully written.

plastic pastels

I have recently fulfilled my wish for a NEW ERA OF STYLE (be excited, yaaay)! 

A little while ago I decided to rethink my look. I'm all about the Harajuku styyyyyle now, which in my case consists of plastic things embellishing my head (hello kitty barrettes and flower crowns), pastel fluffy things (prettiness AND warmth, yay) and lots of customised vintageness. 

 I was inspired by pictures of the cute/scary/wacky outfits sported by Japanese guys n' dolls on the streets of Harajuku. My main aim is to achieve Harajuku-worthy style with my own twist.

Anyway, here are some designs...

maybe some things shouldn't move with the times.

I am talking about relatively 'superficial' things, of course. Not like people's views and stuff.

ANYWAY, what I mean by the title of this post is, for example, aspects of fashion and music. To be entirely honest, I don't think it should be this difficult to find inexpensive (and genuine) vintage clothes. Of course, there are loads of amazing vintage shops and stuff, but many of them are extortionately expensive, especially if what they offer is high quality and/or rare.

I think there should be more of a range of vintage-style clothes; it can't be massively hard to make them the same way as they used to be. So much of what is manufactured today is just so flimsy, why shouldn't we carry on making the sort of dresses that could survive a war, or a revolution? And for an affordable price, too? 

And music - well, where do I start? Without naming names, (which is hard, because this angers me greatly) there are a fair few musicians who have just melted into the same tired category, and I can't be the only one who has difficulty telling who is who when I hear them on the radio.

And what makes me sad about this is mainly the waste of talent. That situation where someone with an AMAZING voice or other musical ability ends up using it on the same flat, samey tune as the rest of the clones. Whatever happened to using an amazing voice on a real ballad with real feelings, or a really classic, sultry style -and having it recognised as much as the stuff in the top 40?

Well, this is my opinion (once more), and I cannot stress that enough.

Reunion

So this weekend I met my fairy godmother Candy who I haven't seen for about 9 years. Also my best friend Annie. I took pictures of strangers (with their permission) for my art project... and that story is for another time, so I shall talk about ALL THE FASHION.

Today's things.

I found some pictures of Sophie and I's latest charity shop trawl, so, although obscenely belated, here they are. ~

In other news, today I bought a wonderful blouse from the shop above. ^ It's sooo pretty, I love love love it. The label says Jaeger, which I later discovered is usually expensive... It was £4 when I got it, ha. The sleeves are quite madly puffy, so I decided it would work better if I rolled the sleeves up. Here it is:

I also bought Animal Farm in the same shop, for £1, and was delighted to discover that inside someone had pencilled their name and 'December 1952' on the inside cover. It excited me greatly.
