um.. holiday,ruins and baby cows

Hey lovely people, i'm very sorry i haven't blogged in such a long, I was on holiday and there was approximetley 0 internet connection. Anyway Holiday-wise, Me, my family and some much loved friends of the family went to Masham, which is a really pretty town in North Yorkshire. We stayed stayed in a really cool looking restored chapel; I tried not to think of all the ghost opportunities that building had! During the holiday we went to many different historical ruins. Also quite a few museums.
We also attended an agricultural show which included- ferret racing, terrier racing, a fancy dress horse competition and possibly the cutest baby cow, eva! Much fun was had by all and we ate a lot of cheese.

We decided to have a little swim in the river, it was very cold but very pretty

summer,maybe

Today, I really felt like summer wasn't far away. It was honestly a beautiful day (though still cold)
With summer comes summer clothes, and after a winter swathed in wooly tights and scarves, I really need some 'dancing space' in my clothes. So I've decided to try and dress and act like a free-spirited, flower-picking kinda grrl, and just lounge everywhere in kaftans, flowing skirts and wide sleeved tops. 70's style......

calendula river

This photo shoot from the other day for my art project that was based on pre-raphaelite paintings and Frida Kahlo's What the Water Gave Me. I wore a Laura Ashley vintage blouse and my rosary from the Vatican, and I picked these flowers from the garden.

What the Water Gave Me by Frida Kahlo

Sorry that a couple of the pictures are quite disturbing: being underwater gives a deathly quality. Kudos to UNDERWATER CAMERAS, they are an ingenious invention and I love them. Feedback would be good, not sure if I should use these in my project or not

pining

This is VERY belated. But I drew this a while ago and thought maybe I should actually post it to it's namesake...

Also, I am very soon getting a hair cut. Not going to try and describe it, my wordy skills are not on my side today. But it's a change. ^^

ALSO, I was going to order some GORGEOUS Bodyline socks (knee-high, pale pink, with lace and ribbons) but the postage was too expensive (wah!). I shall try not to miss what I never had. :'c

Oh, and I still want to go to Harajuku. Shall post another pining-for-Japan type dealio soon.

Planets, flowers and Frida Kahlo

For 'Identity' in GCSE art, I am doing a Frida Kahlo-inspired project. I thought, who expresses their own identity perfectly in her artwork ? So, that's how that came about. Anyway, for part of my project I decided I wanted some Frida-style photos (brightly coloured walls, clothes, lipstick etc.) to back up the rest of my stuff. So here are the pictures from the first shoot. I just love my camera more and more every time I use it. My beloved ~*~*~* Anyway. I'll upload the rest of the Frida pictures as soon as I take and develop them (in a couple of weeks I shall be seeing my best friend in London, also my Godmother, so pretty photos in abundance!

Planets and whimsy.

I like this one; quite surreal with the warehouse and tyres. It had just started to rain.

Some looovely pink sari fabric that my mum lent to me for the shoot. We're actually planning on making a curtain with it.

Being enigmatic and wistful.

I painted a little plastic Halloween skull bright colours to look more Day of the Dead.

I'm very proud of this one. I managed to get it in focus on the first (and only) shot c:

Being Frida-y in Holly's big, flower-abundant garden.

Flower headdress - made by moi (using an alice band, superglue and some fake flowers)

The beautiful Holly with one of the souvenir fans we all bought in Roma. I love the lighting in this one.

Hope you liked my pictures, and talk to y'all soon ~
