dream boat

Hi, really sorry we've been away for a bit, anyway the reason we weren't around was because we were on holiday.
We had a lovely time narrow-boating on the Llangollen canal, We sat for hours in the sun watching the world go by, ate a lot of delicious cheese, painted, embroidered and surprisingly didn't fall into the canal! I compiled a sort of visual diary documenting our trip, I hope you enjoy:)

nEw proJect!

I have had an idea for a reasonably exciting new venture of mine. I would really like to combine two of my greatest loves-film and poetry, My idea is to create short films from my own poetry and also possibly take submissions from other budding poets.

If you would like to submit a poem, you can either record you reading the poem or send me the poem as it is. (so I can record myself reading it)

If you are interested in this venture, just click the email link on the right of the page.

to give you a few ideas of what I do, here is a few stills from a poetry video I am making at the moment.

*if you do want to submit a poem, I will run all creative choices past you and I also may present you with a mood board!

frills and thrills.

Tomorrow Sinead and I have plans to film a music video for Sinead's new and extremely fab song 'Shrine' So I have made a mood board; to illustrate what kind look we're going for, for this film.

We love the idea of a prom queen (especially as in Britain proms aren't advanced enough to have prom queens.) Also Sinead's song includes lyrics about prom queens. Sooooo, we are going for a 1950's frills and thrills to suburban waste-land journey type thing.

If you didn't understand any of that I am sorry and you'll just have to wait for the music video to understand.

Some Like it Hot

I watched Some Like it Hot for the first time last night, and must say I loved it. Except I found Jack Lemmon intensely annoying in it, so I'm not even going to bother writing about him or putting a picture of him in this post. Harsh but fair, it's my opinion c:

Tony Curtis (picture not from film) - must say I do find him attractive in the film. When he isn't cross-dressing, that is -he's weirdly convincing as a 1920s woman. But honestly, I feel so weird admitting it but he was one beautiful man.

And of course, beauty of beauties, Marylin steals the show as always in her role as ukulele-playing Sugar. She's just too adorable. That line right near the end; "wait for Sugar!" is just so cute I could cry. But I won't cry because Marylin makes me so so happy. One other thing; the outfits she wears in Some Like it Hot are outrageous even by today's standards!

Adorable. The level of attractiveness is unbearable. They're so cute together at the end of the film, I can't even afgbalgoek;,le.

OUTRAGEOUS DRESS. But made of sparkle, so I forgive her. Also her fluffy thing is very gorgeous and looks EVER so soft, although unfortunately probably real fur :c

So this was almost a review, but not really. More of a summary of my opinions of the cast.

I can't draw.

using my art skills

So..  I said to Sinead ' lets make another music video' and she said ' alright'. So tomorrow we might be making a fun music video, Sinead has prepared the music so I have done some preparation of my own(mwhhaaahahah) I have decided that the film will be in the woods, it will be creepy and include Sinead disappearing and reappearing and film in reverse and slow-downed and I will use a yellow filter, as this it what the piece of music sinead has created screams to me.  so watch out for the finished film it will be coming your way in the next few days......

Here's what happened today.

What I wore today.
The above outfit consists of: red beret, handmade detatchable collar, cropped dark teal woollen jumper with zip detail, high-waisted satiny lacey skirt (also with zip) and, not shown in picture, my vintage brown Doc Marten shoes.

When I got into town I went to collect my developed film, which I had completely forgotten about, so when I remembered it was an even nicer surprise. I'm very happy with how they turned out; because the film I used was a years-old black and white one, so all my pictures came out all soft and grainy-looking. I'll upload the best ones soon.

The faun in Pan's Labyrinth is one of those 'good or bad?' characters at first, but I love him.

Later, I watched Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto Del Fauno) for the first time.
I had been warned by several people of the tragedy, disturbing scenes, goriness etc. I did cry lots at the end, and had to hide behind Micah several times due to horrific violence. But I'm glad I watched it. If any of you are interested by the sound of this film, I strongly recommend it - despite the aforementioned warnings, which I do agree with, it's a beautiful, magical film that I think is important to watch. But honestly, don't take it lightly, with an 'it's only a film' attitude; you have to be prepared to watch it. It's quite dark and at times seems bleak (mainly in the real-life parts), but as I said, it is gorgeous and I'd say to anyone (who's not too faint-hearted or squeamish) "watch this film".

On my way home, I was listening to music and came to the realisation that Reckoner by Radiohead (my current favourite of theirs) is quite a good match for the film; just in the way that it has really tragic, dark parts, and dreamy ethereal elements throughout - but it's not completely negative, and near the end the key shifts and sort of lightens the whole song. Just as, although the ending of Pan's Labyrinth is awful (I won't go into detail, for fear of ruining the plot for others), Ofelia's imagination and innocence make it somehow a tiny bit less dreadful than it really is. And that is what I made of Pan's Labyrinth.

Hasta luego gatitos,
Sinead
