earrings, safety pins and a piece of coral

I was set a really cute assignment in Art a few weeks ago; It was to fill a match box with objects that say something about me and then draw it. My drawings are pretty awful, but I took some photographs to compensate. My matchbox was really tiny, hence all my objects had to be really tiny. They include:

  • a piece of coral my art teacher in year 3 gave to me.
  • two really cool earrings
  • one of my great-grandmothers brooches
  • a safety pin
  • a silver horse charm (for a bracelet)
  • a heart-shaped button
  • a peace-sign necklace charm
  • a mirror

I'm not sure if these objects really represent me. The earrings and the brooch show how i'm a bit of a magpie who likes sparkly things. But the rest is just things that I use or I found around the house. Anyway here are my photographs-

In other news, I am completely obsessed and in love with this  song.

dreaming

I'm totally in love with the advert for Daisy by Marc Jacobs. I love the dreaminess and pretty summer imagery. It kind of reminds me of Picnic at Hanging Rock (a creepy-beautiful classic, I highly recommend it).

inside me I feel alone and unreal

It's occurred to me that it's coming up to a year since I met Patrick Wolf; because of this, I've sort of been shrouded in mild wistfulness and nostalgia for a little while now. So, I decided, as it's coming up to Winter, it's more appropriate for these photos to be in black and white ( I understand my logic ).

He's so beautiful, I just can't. Re-kindled my passion for viola and music in general as soon as he came onstage.

This was really the best day of my life. I don't even know how long I was with him for, I was just too focused on being smitten and starstruck. But I'll treasure this picture forever.

I'm sure most teenagers are familiar with the old 'post-concert depression'. Although, the crying picture was actually taken before the show started, after I'd met Patrick and not knew how to deal with all the emotions. I got my mum to document my overwhelmed-ness.

Some pictures I'm planning to use in my upcoming zine (watch this space).

In other news, I'm so obsessed with This Mortal Coil's version of Late Night. I also love the video, very witchy and pretty. Perfect for Autumn!

my friend

This is the very beautiful Sophie. In her very beautiful flower crown. I like this picture but didn't use it in my art project because it wasn't focused enough and I'm fussy.

I think she has a very certain charisma and fairy-like air in this picture (and always).

calendula river

This photo shoot from the other day for my art project that was based on pre-raphaelite paintings and Frida Kahlo's What the Water Gave Me. I wore a Laura Ashley vintage blouse and my rosary from the Vatican, and I picked these flowers from the garden.

What the Water Gave Me by Frida Kahlo

Sorry that a couple of the pictures are quite disturbing: being underwater gives a deathly quality. Kudos to UNDERWATER CAMERAS, they are an ingenious invention and I love them. Feedback would be good, not sure if I should use these in my project or not

bye bye summer.

I went to Llama festival in early Summer. It was delightful. Here are some snippets of that weekend.

Tankus the Henge ; I don't even remember what their music was like, but their piano had a weird gauge thing on it and there was smoke coming out of it (my theory - time machine). Also they all had pretty dapper outfits on. So I took a picture.

Pretty beach (where I fell over twice).

So au revior to you, Summer. I won't miss you that much, even though we had some nice times. I've missed cosy nights and dark mornings and hot water bottles and jumpers.

lost Harajuku girl

My outfit today.
It consists of my trusty DIY flower crown, pastel skull necklace, mohair pale pink ballet cardigan, minty 60s nightshirt thing with lace edging, white 50s circle skirt and pale pink tights.
And, of course, my lovely creepers to add an edge to my girliest-of-girly outfit.

So this weekend I met my fairy godmother Candy who I haven't seen for about 9 years. Also my best friend Annie. I took pictures of strangers (with their permission) for my art project... and that story is for another time, so I shall talk about ALL THE FASHION.

Shiny shoes, yummmmm.

Laura Ashley shirt that is not unlike something from Picnic at Hanging Rock.

Victorian style dress -with little handbag from Rokit in Camden.

60s mint nightshirt with lace edging and white 50s skirt (my love)
Bluuuue velvet.

Pink nightie, also from Rokit. I looove it.
And some new new things...
Biiiiiiiiig earrings from Topshop.

Pastel skull necklace (also from Topshop).

On Saturday I also discovered the wonder that is Irregular Choice. SHOES WITH KITTENS ON THEM, YES PLEASE. I want some so bad. Anyway, here are some things I now own.

Planets, flowers and Frida Kahlo

For 'Identity' in GCSE art, I am doing a Frida Kahlo-inspired project. I thought, who expresses their own identity perfectly in her artwork ? So, that's how that came about. Anyway, for part of my project I decided I wanted some Frida-style photos (brightly coloured walls, clothes, lipstick etc.) to back up the rest of my stuff. So here are the pictures from the first shoot. I just love my camera more and more every time I use it. My beloved ~*~*~* Anyway. I'll upload the rest of the Frida pictures as soon as I take and develop them (in a couple of weeks I shall be seeing my best friend in London, also my Godmother, so pretty photos in abundance!

Planets and whimsy.

I like this one; quite surreal with the warehouse and tyres. It had just started to rain.

Some looovely pink sari fabric that my mum lent to me for the shoot. We're actually planning on making a curtain with it.

Being enigmatic and wistful.

I painted a little plastic Halloween skull bright colours to look more Day of the Dead.

I'm very proud of this one. I managed to get it in focus on the first (and only) shot c:

Being Frida-y in Holly's big, flower-abundant garden.

Flower headdress - made by moi (using an alice band, superglue and some fake flowers)

The beautiful Holly with one of the souvenir fans we all bought in Roma. I love the lighting in this one.

Hope you liked my pictures, and talk to y'all soon ~
